We made our annual pilgrimage to the Serpentine Pavilion in Hyde Park this weekend – this year’s incarnation takes the form of a latticed steel structure and timber canopy which radiates out over indigo blue walls, bounding a courtyard at its core. The pavilion is heavily symbolic, referencing a tree which serves as a moot point in Francis Kere’s hometown of Gando in Burkina Faso, re-imagined in a strong geometric language.  The pavilion is open until 8th October.
